Died 40 years ago; Janis Joplin
Hard to believe she died forty years ago. What a loss, I always believed she had so much more to give.
there is a huge music festival here in SF this weekend where all her contemporaries are being featured --joan baez is even singing here it is in the park not far away and we can here it great music
Sad that she died, but in her death she may have saved many people who thought they could do drugs and alcohol forever with no consequences. I don't mean that to sound harsh, but there were excesses in the 60's and lives were ruined unless people paid attention.

ReplyDeleteAs a kid in the 60s, I was pretty fascinated by this album cover. My siblings always had Janis on the mono player
