Weekend music, Rolling Stones, She's like a Rainbow.
I heard this on the radio and it took me back. This used to be one of my favourite songs and I havn't heard it for ages, I think its one of those songs that is so .. much of that time
I've still got the hair....or I would if I let it grow, and it would be a sides-only do, and it would be grey, not brown, but other than that it would be just the same. lol I remember those days. I haven't heard this song for quite a while, either. I guess it isn't the most commonly played Stones song.
Being a Stones fan, I like all of their songs, but this one isn't a fave of mine, although I agree it's kinda become a 'forgotten' song. Personally the Stones song that takes be back immediately to those days is this one:
I like this song and I rarely hear it on radio now. Having my childhood in the 60s, every time I hear these songs I'm taken back and can appreciate the amazingly fresh creativity of the music of that period.
YouTube has only been around since 2005. Prior to that I had to resort to Napster or the rare classic shown on MTV. With the demise of our second to last needle, I felt I had lost easy touch to the songs of my youth. When I found YouTube, I watched it for hours, transfixed and crying. Our children had saved our music for us.
But they saved so much more!! Not just the music but episodes of the Mickey Mouse club, Captain Kangaroo, Gilligan's Island, even Robin Hood with Richard Greene.
And, I asked my husband about the record decks and he confirmed what you said: at one time needles and players were impossible to find, but people did not want to give up their vinyl, so they started making them again. How cool is that!!!!
No denying it, this was a colourful age (not too mention that we were young).

ReplyDeletethats a nice way of looking at it, but you can still buy the 'needles' for the old record decks, you can even buy new record decks if you want to
