The bath tub pond is tiled and finished.

Yesterday I managed to get the bath tub pond finished. I intended to make a mosaic pattern around the bath with off cuts of tile left over from my kitchen. Once I looked at the bits of tile I had left and realised how little time I had, a full mosaic seemed out of the question. My compromise is one row of white tiles followed with some black and white bits that were already cut. the bits don't fit perfectly, some are just a little wider than others but...........its a POND not a new bathroom so I guess it will do. To finish off I cemented a row of wooden edging around the side and then painted it blue to match every thing else. Looks like I did it, I finished my pond project literally hours before having to go back to work.!!

  8. no need to be envious ..............i know it took me ages but apart from digging the hole and cementing in the blocks (which I should have done myself), it really is very easy and quite rewarding. Most things you do in the garden don't make such an immediate difference, believe me if I can do it so could you.

  9. thanks ..............a compliment indeed, I just love to recycle and this time it's really been worth it. Thinking about potato barrels made out of old tyres for next year!! :-))

  10. Excellent!!! :o) If you grow comfrey in a corner, near your pond, this makes excellent plant food. Get a 2 litre fizzy drinks bottle and cut the base end off. Leave the cap on. Fix the bottle to a corner of your shed and put bits of comfrey in the bottle as a mini composter. As it "rots down" it will make a wonderful liquid feed for all your plants out performing miracle gro! Magic!

  15. :-)) thanks every one..............I have to admit I'm pleased with it now it's finished, and pleased that I only used recycled goods and didn't buy any thing new at all. Even the concrete blocks placed around the bath were left over from a previous project.

  16. Alot of hard work in a very short space of time. The new idea to use the basic tile is good, it would have taken so much longer and lots more patience for a mosaic. I'm amazed you fit all your projects in and complete them in the time allotted. Now you have to go back to work!

  18. Could ya please tell me what plants you have in it.
I'm having terrible luck with mine.
Either the fish eat them, or they die.........Who knows why?
Maybe give a lil detail on how to plant the plants in ponds too....

    This is really cool.

    P.S.
I have an old tub out back I could try thiswith to establish plants, before I move them to the fish....
    Maybe.........? lol

  19. OH!

You can add Mosquito fish to it also.
They are very small, and need no pump, filter, etc...
Mine cost me .50 apiece at my pond shop.
They multiply like crazy, and are good for keeping mosquitoes away.
PLUS - Ya never have to feed them. They eat algae and Mosquito larvae.
