The Shadows and other early memories.

I’ve had these twangy tunes going on in my head all day………no idea why but thought I should share. When I was about 11 my dad arrived home with a record deck just like the one above and a few old Shadows 45 singles. That summer he took my sister and I to see ‘Summer Holiday’ at the cinema. Up until then the only cinema I had been to was the sixpenny Saturday morning cinema where we saw things like The Lone Ranger or Rin tin tin.

The Shadows - Apache

  2. I used to play records over and over again to write down the words and learn the tunes. What simpler times those were.

  3. Wow - that song Apache! I don't know when I first heard it but it immediately grabbed me and was my favorite. My brother and I and his friends and girlfriends would go riding along and sometimes that song would come on the radio. What great memories. I lost the song until Napster and then I downloaded it and now I can hear it whenever I want and I can be a teenager with all the joys and sorrows of that age. Thank you so much!!

  4. Oh my, The Shadows and Apache, marvelous memories. Now I'm remembering all of the great solely instrumental groups of the late 50's and 60's.....and their songs, treasures to be sure. Just found The Ventures - "Knock Me Out" and "Walk Don't Run."
