  1. not bad, didn't really care for the high notes at the end. JMHO. Only got to do over because she's "an adorable little girl" If an adult had fallen apart, they would have been tossed.

  2. she has just beaten greg the male soprano into tomorrows final show, and in this case I thought he gave the better performance.

  3. tend to agree with every thing you have said, some of her notes even in the second performance were quite off.

  4. I can't sing except in the shower. However, I think this song was too much for her voice. I'm not saying she can't sing.

  5. I know Brenda we don't want to be unkind about a little girl but I think she is out of her depth, she can sing and dance but not to this level...........at least thats what I think

  6. I think it's the pressure that has built up with this being viewed and talked about all over the world now

it gets back to the contestants, and as we have seen from the online newspaper reports is even seriously affecting Susan Boyle

they [the Producers] need to calm it all down somehow to relax the competitors in the next 24 hours [or less]

my son has just told me that he knows Aidan who got through to the Final, in that his older brother was in my son's class when he was at school [we're in B'ham]

I didn't really take to Greg's performance on either show, but loved Holly the first time
so hoping she'll recover that, as her voice is such quality
there was a beautiful note from her in the 2nd try that brought tears to my eyes.

  11. I agree. This song was just too much for her. "I Could Have Danced All Night" was perfect, showed her range and projection well. This, not so much.
I do wish Greg had chosen something different. He's so good and that costume was so bad.

  12. I really agree with you, i wanted to see him in the finals because I think he is very talented and also there are only a handful of men in the world who can sing with that range. Like you said tonights performance let him down he could have done so much better.

  13. She's got a beautiful voice for a young one. I personally think the kids need their own show
    too much pressure

  14. If she couldn't cope with last night, how is she going to handle singing in front of the Queen. Although it would of deeply upset her last night, I felt it would of been fairer, to her, in the long run to have not put her through; there would of been a lynch party out for the judges if they hadn't of done though. She needs a few more years of maturity. But definatly the wrong song for her to sing. She'll go back to 'I should of danced all night' for the final tonight.

  15. Maybe I would feel less like it was a sham if She had really been crying when she stopped the first time. I know that sounds terrible before anyone rakes me over the coals. I just felt like she put on the crying act with no tears to get her way. I've seen it done before. I may be wrong. But she did get her way.

  16. SO GLAD I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO FELT THAT, I had my doubts all the way through and i've re-watched the video several times and I can't see any tears, just a lot of noise. I know it makes me a sad old cynic but this little girl has been to drama school for years and she is very polished when on stage, ,maybe her and her mammy thought it would guarantee her a place on the semi-finals, which she got. She did make an awful lot of noise until they agreed to let her sing again and then she shut up. Like I said.........sad old cynic that I am

  17. did you not think she was?
what is 'really crying' to yourself? [just wondering if you're a mom, also, as this teaches such a lot about kids, who are all different]

I saw a strung out 10 year old crying from extreme nervousness, literally shaking, but trying to block that, from her previous training, [which is why it was changeable in appearance from moment to moment], in singing and breathing [and how Susan Boyle, the 48 year old handled it, is another story...where shall we start? ]
I am judging neither of them, but seeking to understand reasons

I am trained in counselling and psychology and also a mom

I do not say this to 'big myself up,' but to show I'm not a naive dupe, not just going by feelings, as I was quite astonished at the cynicism in your words

  18. I think maybe different people see different situations in a different light and being trained in psychology or any thing else doesn't really make any difference. I'm also a mother, and a granny, and a trained psychiatric nurse, and I presently work in a school..............and I have serious doubts about the sincerity of that outburst. Only Holly and her mother will ever know the truth for certain but I will say that if it was a manipulated outburst in order to secure a place in the finals I would blame the parent for allowing a 10 year old to become so obsessed with the whole thing, not the the child herself.

  19. Yes, I am both a Mother and a Grandmother. I said that I knew it sounded terrible. I agree with Loretta in that I blame the Mother NOT the child for the outburst. The Mother was the one saying "Go ahead, ignore all these people", etc. Crying, to me, includes tears which I do understand not everyone exibits in a stressful situation. I also agree with Loretta that it was amazing how quickly she regained her composure when the "crying" got her way.
I'm sorry that you think of me as a "naive dupe". We all have our shortfalls.

  20. Besides, I also have watched the vidoe over and it's not the fact she forgot the words it's the fact that her voice kept breaking and dropping out that had her so upset. Then when the backround music continued and she got further and further off she lost it. I think the song was too much for her voice as she hits several squeeky stretches.
I'm not trying to judge her or anyone else. I'm lucky to be able to handle my own problems. I was simply voicing an opinion, not asking for an attack.
