Arbirlot, the photos
The tiny village of arbirlot, 2 1/2 miles west of Arbroath. Walking along Elliot Water and past the ruins of the old Meal Mill.
glad you asked that.... was just too lazy to put in the explanation for these few photos..... this is what remains of the weir / lock thingy..... the dipped ground, full of vegetation, in front of it was the 'pond'
it is in some ways but they can't all be saved and the position of this.. right on the water in the middle of a wood makes it especially vulnerable. A few mile away there is one that has been restored and its in working order. I've been here and its well worth a visit. This is pretty much how this little Arbirlot mill would have looked. http://www.undiscoveredscotland.co.uk/carnoustie/barrymill/index.html
I Loved this set of photos so much-would love to visit this area-thanks for sharing

ReplyDeleteYou have SUCH a lovely country and countryside Loretta. Thank you for taking us on your journeys.
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice walk you had! Even if it was too wet to sit and paint, you could always do a painting from one of your photos.
ReplyDeleteThis looks like a very nice walk.
ReplyDeleteThat's so beautiful, exactly the place one can expect to see fairies! That door also is just wonderful.
ReplyDeleteFascinating old arched doorway
ReplyDeleteNice detail
ReplyDeleteSuch a shame old buildings are allowed to be neglected like this.
ReplyDeleteInteresting perspective.
ReplyDeleteEven the graffitti is carved rather than sprayed on!!
ReplyDeleteIs that another building?
ReplyDeleteNice little bridge.
ReplyDeleteLooking green & lovely.
ReplyDeleteLooks very peaceful there.
ReplyDeleteI like the blossoming tree in the foreground.
