Song Saturday; Liza Minnelli, New York, New York

Something by Lisa Minellie, I've always liked this womans work. The picture at the top is one of a series of photographs by Jay Maisel taken in Manhattan that I came across in a 1981 copy of National Geographic. Think I'll scan the rest of post them later, But for now, NEW YORK.....

  1. New York is definately my new favourite city!! Having spent three days exploring it while I was stuck in the US because of the volcano, I have a substantial amount of photos of the place. They'll be appearing regularly on muy page over the next few weeks!! LOL. Have to say, I still prefer Old Blue Eyes's version of the song.

Here's a shot from the 86th floor of the Empire State Building, lookng down!!

  3. "Liza with a Z" and "Cabaret" are DVD's that are often played here when I'm in the mood for great theater. Liza is a fabulous talent.

  5. Fabulous voice!! Wonder if she ever did a duet with Frank?

I also love her performance in "Cabaret".

  7. Oh, I just realised that it looks like there's a cloud of smoke in the photo you scanned.

  9. I just now got a chance to listen to the Liza/Frank duet. It was wonderful - appeared totally spontaneous and very vibrant. Thank you.
