COPYRIGHT.................yeah i know we have all discussed, read and written on the 'multiply and copyright thing; BUT, I've just been happily clicking down my emails and came across a notification of my own post, a post full of my own original photos. At the end of the email notice this is what it says ''Copyright 2010 Multiply, 6001 Park of Commerce Blvd, Boca Raton, FL '' Checking back I see it says the same thing at the end of ALL emails sent by multiply to notify of new posts. Hmmmmm so looks like they were all right after all, Multiply DOES indeed own copyright to all of our posts, photos, writings etc.................

  1. When an online magazine wanted to publish one of my photos, they asked my permission. This was about a year ago. Maybe they asked Multiply too, but it reassured me that I have some rights to my work.

  2. that is reassuring, I've just never seen the little notice at the bottom of all the emails. Silly really I'm suprised I've never noticed them before.

  4. I know; right? Irony, and all that.

(You probably remember the petition -- and how the 'Ply-dude hisself sic'ed his user-group - Meg-what's-her-twat - on me; they never addressed the issue, but simply took to personal attack. I have to hand it to them. They have a VERY efficient group of unpaid, loyal brownshirts.)

We'll get the last laugh on them, though, Loretta - their U.S./Canadian/European user-base has been falling-off steadily for over a year now; the greatest growth they're seeing is not from the lucrative photo and video-media crowd, but from Indonesia and the Philippines - two countries which haven't gotten around to blocking the site yet from national internet use.

I use this place to drive eyeballs to my other sites, as well as to post the occasional link. Everything else was deleted, at least from ready view.

  5. the petition?... how could I forget? I remember it well.............do I detect just the tiniest hint of ''I told you so'' here?
You know in truth, i'm just too dam lazy and also quite settled here to bother moving every thing the way you have, also of course, although it does bug me a little, I don't think it bothers me as much as it does you. That is of course until I see my photos splattered all over some merchandise and then I'll be really peed off about the whole thing.
BUT..............I've never noticed the little footnote on the bottom of all the emails, is this a recent thing or have I just not noticed before?

  8. Well over a year ago, I removed everything from my site that I didn't want to share with Multiply. I don't trust them anymore then I trust any other site on the web. They are in business to make money, not to win loyal friends.

  9. I find that a bit of a problem because I use multiply for sharing photos and writing ... especially about my garden, but this is something i've been aware of for a while now.

  10. I was talking about original art work, poetry and family photos.

  11. My view is that once I post something online, it's out there and it's public, and why worry about it. I post to share things, and if they get shared more than I imagined, so be it. I'd rather focus on my next photos or posting, not worry about who might be using my photos (there is SO MUCH out there, I don't imagine for a minute people queuing up to steal my bits and peices ~ if they did, it would be quite a compliment wouldn't it!

  12. the way I see the issue of trust, it's always a case of trusting myself not to create what I don't want in my reality ~ a case of what I am focused on, which is why I don't usually focus on this kind of thing (but funnily enough, yesterday I noticed one of my photos on someone elses page, with no link back or credit, and it did make me stop and re asses my stance cos I did get a momentary twinge of ownership, ha ha! Even though I have stated that anyone can use my photos if they want to. I noticed just minutes ago that the same person posted some artwork of a freind without crediting him or linking back, so this issue of ownership is popping up today!)

  13. I agree with Tracy too. Besides, I think (or at least hope) that Multiply is more secure than other social networks.
