sun..rain..sun..rain..sun..rain..................off out soon, maybe rain..gallery, maybe sun...painting,....who knows, back later :-)
and for when I get back.....here is a question for my many gardening friends........what is the best way to harvest/ dry or otherwise preserve herbs for all year use??
At least you're getting some variety!! LOL. Here it's just rain.

:)
about your herbs I frezze mine found that to be the best to preserve taste and color
ReplyDeletedrying them makes most taste like straw
I still do the old world thing of hanging bunches upside down to dry and then putting the leaves in airtight jars until ready to use. Dried leaves are 2-3 times stronger than fresh ones. There is also a way to dry herbs and flowers in the microwave, but haven't tried that.
ReplyDeletei dry mine the wan very frank does....hang them upside down in a cool, dry place. i've never tried the microwave, either. occasionally i will freeze some, too.
ReplyDeleteI will try again, dehydrate, or make pesto and freeze in ice cube trays
ReplyDeleteI have and I wasn't satisfied with the result. But it worked better to dry them in a very slow (250ºF) oven. I am not sure why I didn't like the nuked herbs - they tasted funny.

Flowers may also be pressed and dried.
Appreciate it. I will start with mint as I have lots and so can experiment to get my technique down.
ReplyDeleteI only have bay leaves that I've dried like Frank. We've had sun-some cloud- more brilliant sun- dark clouds all day It usually is a gloomy day on this date, but not today.
