Paintings by Mary pickering,

Mary Pickering was born in Dublin, Ireland. She has painted for the past thirty years mastering many media (oils, pastels, watercolours) before progressing to her current favourite, silk and acrylic.

Mary is self-taught and has developed her own unique style of silk painting, with its free flowing and vivid colours. This has allowed Mary to express movement in a way not possible in her earlier work.

  1. I'd think it would be very difficult to get such crisp lines on silk. The colors might be worth all that trouble, obviously. Earthly Woman looks like a bit of an homage to Picasso, yet so much more reverent toward the female. I love After School & Rainy Day in Dublin the most, I think. Great Stuff!

  2. I forgot to mention on the poem, how much I liked the art work. Mary Pickering is a very good artist. I am rather partial to 'Rainy Day in Dublin', too. Thanks for sharing her work Loretta.

  7. I think She has talent, but....

    Do not get me wrong.
I love art, in fact it is who I am.

I can do better than this, yet this is a big deal.
I just do not get it.
What makes art good, and what makes it so-so?

  8. I'm really drawn to bright colours in art and an artist that can use such bright colour successfully should be praised. The media of silk lends to colour because of the way it dyes so well.

  9. I would hang this in a place where I could see it every day - all winter.

  10. There is no doubt that Mary Pickering's style and her art medium very much appeal to me; light and simplicity. She seems to know just when and where to stop her creation.
