East Mathers; Aug 2011
Have been out and about this weekend and we were blessed with good sunshine.
Very nice pictures, beautiful skies and I am totally impressed with the sea washed rocks. Much of it looks like the ruins of a battlement for protecting a castle. I'll wager that the land has water on two sides, a perfect place for a castle. When I traveled, I just got too excited about finding locations like East Mathers, then piecing together the history of the area.
you are right, it was an old cottage, and for those who asked, there is a whole flooded village under the sea. Its just a case of the coast line changing its place and covering what was there. No castle, ne prehistoric ruins , just a little fishing village . :-)
:-).... with the exception of the weather..............I think you are right, my sister who lives in France has often said she loves Scotland and if she could move it a few hundred miles south she would happily live there.
When I see ruins like these, I think that in some place, back in history, people got together to build these for specific purposes, whether homes or places of communal worship. They had people inside of them doing ordinary things. Quite a few from this building: inspiring to imagination.

ReplyDeleteevery time I see rocks on the beach I think of your shower, if rock were not so heavy and expensive to post, you would have a crate full by now. :-)
ReplyDeleteThose are beautiful skies, and I see why there are so many artists from this beautiful country. I don't think you have too much to envy of France.
