The Wild Flowers of Seaton Cliffs, 29.06.08


Just before the actual cliffs start there is a steep embankment full of these white flowers

Today I thought I would see how many different types of wild flowers I could find as I walked along the Cliffs. It was quite windy along the cliffs today, maybe too windy to be leaning over the edge taking photographs.

    Harebells or bluebells, they grow in Canada on the shore of Superior.

    Rose campion? We have white ones here. I think also called bladderwort.

    Both are members of the pea family. Golden vetch I think and purple vetch.

    They are like dandelions and the seeds turn into puffs like dandelions.

    Hmmm doesnt look anything like our groundsel. Not many of these are familiar to me and I know all the wildflowers in my area . LOL

    oh Vero how could you.................I put this one in especially for you, because you can eat it..............I am pretty sure this is a farmers field full of potatoes!!................at least thats what I thought it was!! guess I could be wrong... lol

    I thought the stems looked like borage, but the shape of the flower didnt seem right, and the blue too light? But perhaps thats the brightness of the sun on it? :)

    MORE WILD FLOWERS TO NAME.
    Vero it looks like you were right, they have bloomed now and I think they are wild geranium. Also think I have found a patch of wild orchids.....they are beautiful

    Think this is another variety of Vetch but it is pure white, have never seen white Vetch before

    can't be absolutly sure but I think this could be a variety of wild orchid.................stunning.............deep deep purple

    what a shame this one turned out so blurred, focus just not tright. Will go back and look for another one before the blooms die off because it is bright pink with almost snakeskin type markings ..... fantastic.... what a find. Same species as the one I think is a wild orchid , just a different colour

    This is the flower I would particularly like identified. As I said, I think it is a wild orchid, but I can't find it in any of my books to make a positive identification.......................so..............HELP
