  4. I have thought before that a great way to recycle waste plastic is to produce outdoor furniture. Park benches are made by recycled plastic and used here in Australia in some places.

I was looking to buy a new doona (duvet or continental quilt) some years back and went to a bedding shop and they had a thick one of 5 blankets' value warmth. But you know what the cotton cover was filled with? Fine filaments shaved from plastic drink bottles. The filaments were so fine, finer than hair. I thought twice about buying one because of the fire hazard involved. And of course, a synthetic fibre wouldn't breathe for bedding, and that would make me perspire.

  5. I have never heard of plastic being put to that use but don't you think the filling would have been treated. We have very strict fire regulations about new furniture and things here I'm sure you have the same sort of regulations there and can't imagine this being allowed on the market if it was such a terrible fire hazard??
Very inventive use for plastic though

  6. I don't know about the fire hazard in the duvet product, but that was one of the things that crossed my mind about it. The stuff was green and really light, but dense to be very warm.
