Degas and the ballerinas
self explanitary................Degas and his dancers!!
I can't say I find myself being a big fan of the Impressionists, maybe because the images have been so common in prints, posters and the like. I like the sculpture and watched a half hour documentary on tv about it sometime back.
but beautifully painted :) actually I think his women are real beauties in a way cos they are 'real' women, no 'airbrushing' or such like here, this is real life and I think that is what I find attractive about them
we have one of these which we bought in Paris at the d'orsy where so much of his stuff is
ReplyDeletemy daughter just loves him

ReplyDeleteOne couldn't say he painted his subjects as 'beauties', for their faces, and body shapes could be rendered very plain.
