Introduction to a Ukraine born Artist.
Anatoly Dverin
Born in Ukraine, Anatoly learn to draw as a young child by his fathers side. His father passed on to him a great love of painting and drawing that would stay with him for the rest of his life. He now resides in Plainville, Massachusetts where he maintains his studio. Dverin earned his Master of Fine Arts Degree and B.A. Degree from the "Kharkov Fine Art Institute" in Ukraine. He also studied in the "Muchina institute" in St. Petersburg, Russia. His paintings reflect his Eastern European roots but over the years Anatoly has also painted American and Canadian landscapes,Education
Master of Fine Arts, Institute of Fine Arts, Ukraine
B.A. Commercial Art Institute, St. Petersburg, Russia
Dverin found fame and recognition in the Soviet art world during the mid 1960’s, he also become a member of the Artist’s Union of the USSR.
When Anatoly and his wife, Lora, applied for permanent exit visas they were excluded from the Artists Union and both he and Lora lost their citizenships. They arrived in New York City in 1976 and settled in Boston where Anatoly has since been recognized as a successful commercial artist. I quite like his stuff, it has a quality similar to some of the work done by the 'Glasgow Boys' in the early part of the twentieth century. The way light and shadow is handled is similar. Maybe something to do with his roots being firmly in the Northern hemisphere and the peculiar quality of light we have here.
very nice loretta
