Song Saturday, Let the Sunshine in

Let the Sunshine In - Hair

Just found this, it’s not the best recording or piece of film, but these guys look like they are having so much fun, and there was a whole lot of sunshine about today.

The cast of Hair performs Let the Sunshine In at the Marriage Equality Rally in NYC May 17, 2009.

  2. Very enjoyable. Thank you. I saw 'Hair' when the show first opened and it was sensationalized for the entire run.

  5. More than just a show tune. Perhaps it is recognize it as popular music as "Aquarius/Let the Sunshine In", sometimes referred to as "The Age of Aquarius" or "Let the Sunshine In", is a medley of two songs from the musical Hair. Released as a single in 1969 by "The 5th Dimension". The single held the number one position on the top 100 for six weeks and the record was certified Platinum. Mama Cass Elliot went on to sing it for years, as did John Phillips.

The song listed at #57 on Billboard's Greatest Songs of all time.

  6. OMG................where were you?? how could you have missed 'Hair' ??..............Thought every one was aware of the original 'Hair'

the publicity seemed more concerned with Marsh Hunt taking her clothes off on stage

  7. I was aware of it, but only peripherally. I didn't really get to know about it in more depth until years later. At that time I was almost entirely into prog and/or psychedelic rock....early Pink Floyd, etc. I also have a natural aversion to musicals, it's not a genre I have ever been particularly attracted to, although in more recent years, as my tastes have become more eclectic, I have started listening to some retrospectively.

  8. I know several people who say that, I think 'musicals' have some sort of very 'un-cool' image and , without really listening or seeing any loads of people, especially from our generation, seem to have this inbuilt aversion to musicals. I was indoctrinated at an early age with my parents playing Carousel and West Side Story etc...............naturally at the time I told all my very ultra cool and into Floyd etc friends I hated it........But guess the early exposure got to me and now..I LOVE MUSICALS :-))

  9. PS..............anyway... Hair was the one musical that the ultra cool and into psychodelic rock etc were positivly encouraged to be into..........it was the exception to the ''ugh musical'' rule :-))

  11. I remember well the soundtrack of Hair from my childhood, as my older siblings used to play this album a lot. Many of the tracks made it to radio too.
