for loretta's contacts
Have not written anything for a few days, been feeling a little unwell. BUT.......saw this in to days newspaper and just had to have it.
www.kelburncastle.com
The story is this, like many of our historic buildings Kelburn Castle has at some time been rendered in concrete rather than the traditional Lime rendering. The concrete causes damage to the stone work and if the buildings thus affected are to be saved the concrete rendering must be removed. In this case the removal of the concrete rendering is scheduled to happen in 2009 as part of a £1 million restoration project.
BUT..... before this happens the current Earl of Glasgow, Patrick Boyle employed four Brazilian graffiti artists to transform the old tower of the castle. It is hoped that this will attract more visitors which in turn will generate more money toward the restoration of the castle.
Dunno 'bout you but I think it's quite amazing and I'll defiantly try to see it before the restoration work tears it down.
